Story

Eddie and Venom, on the run, face pursuit from both worlds. As circumstances close in, they are forced to make a heartbreaking choice that could spell the end of their symbiotic partnership. Take a look at some of our favorite superheroes in costume and incognito. Andy Serkis was interested in returning to direct following his involvement in Venom 2 (2021), but was unable to do so due to his commitments to Animal Farm (2025) (which he had previously postponed to direct the first), so screenwriter Kelly Marcel took over as director for this film. However, Serkis will continue to provide the voice of the character Knull.. In a key shot of Las Vegas, you can see the Sphere, a structure completed and opened in 2023.

My Home Has Found Us

However, in the film, Eddie mentions that he and Venom have been together for a year. The first Venom movie takes place in 2018, so that makes this movie take place in 2019, 4 years before the Sphere exists.. Venom: Eddie… Featured on The 7PM Project: Episode October 25, 2024 (2024). My relationship with the Venom franchise has been rocky. I have a soft spot for the first one, absolutely loathe the second one, and now we’re getting close to the trilogy and thankfully it’s an improvement.

The action is inventive, and the humor is spot-on

Venom: The Last Dance works best when it focuses on Eddie and Venom’s story instead of trying to set the future of the Sony-verse. If you didn’t like the previous Venom movies, this won’t change your mind. It’s still messy, but it’s more on the right track than its predecessors. This is easily the most champion and mature of the bunch. It takes its time with the characters, letting us sit with them instead of rushing into the next action piece. While still PG-13, it manages to pack in a lot more blood than its predecessors.

Eddie and Venom’s relationship has never felt more authentic

It also doesn’t shy away from getting personal and emotional. I admit, I teared up a few times by the end. Some may be disappointed with Knull’s performance, but personally, I enjoyed it. He feels more like an unpleasant threat than a unique villain, and the “God of Darkness” gets the Thanos-like treatment he deserves. Now, don’t get me wrong – the movie is still technically bad – but it’s aware of that. Instead of being “bad bad”, it chooses to be “fun bad” and I’m having fun and I respect that.

Not every movie has to be great; sometimes just being fun is enough

Even at its lowest, I’ve always found a strange sense of comfort with this take on Venom. I found myself caring more about these characters than perhaps even the script intended. So I’m happy to say that by the end, it does enough to justify the existence of this trilogy – and to such a satisfying degree that I’d rather live in a world where Venom movies exist than one where they don’t.
