Casting is a huge mistake
Bo Bragason is also strong as Clara Radley. Damian Lewis and the rest of the cast are pretty obscure and not really involved. A story about a family of vampires who no longer drink human blood. The problem is that there is no story. It’s more than a few days in the life of a boring vampire family.
Nothing happens and no feelings are conveyed to us
We wander from wall to wall and nothing really happens. There are always walls where people are just looking at each other or staring at the wall. People just stand or sit, doing nothing for a few seconds. None of the characters, apart from Helen and Clara, really have any personality. Probably one of the worst characters I’ve seen in a long time is the pseudo-hippie vampire leader Will, also played by Damien Lewis.
Ultimately, the movie makes no sense
The character isn’t developed very much, and Lewis’ second-rate acting skills keep him from making much of anything. So we usually have bad actors, poorly chosen roles, bad script and amateur filming and direction. We are then told that it is not only a horror but also a comedy. I just finished watching it and I honestly can’t remember anything funny that happened during the entire show. It’s almost funny how bad the movie is, maybe that’s what they mean?
It makes no sense
It’s nothing more than a fly-by-night documentary about boring middle-class vampires going about their daily business. It was really tiring to watch, and when the end finally came and the long meaningless speech ended, I said, “Finally, thank God, it’s over.” I give it a 2 and I think that’s generous.
