In the midst of an international crisis, career diplomat Kate Wyler finds herself in a high-profile job she’s ill-suited for, affecting her marriage and her political future. The producers convinced both American and amp; The British government allowed them to use real-life settings as filming locations for the series, including the still-recent American Embassy (Nine Elms), which opened in 2018.

One inaccessible location was Winfield House, the actual residence of the American ambassador. Although it is accurately described as occupying the largest residential plot (11 acres) in London outside Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming purposes.
Keri Russell’s performance here is nothing short of a revelation
Her portrayal of American career diplomat Kate Wyler is a charming mix of strength, humor, intelligence, vulnerability and, oh, sexiness. "Diplomat" deftly caricatures the sphere of international diplomacy and its inhabitants.
Now it’s just up to Netflix to announce a Season 2 and let Ms
And while the world hasn’t yet descended to the nitty-gritty of the plot, the wonderfully talented, diverse cast makes it easy to believe that most of the government is being taken over by people who never emotionally escaped high school. This series looks good, sounds good, feels good – it’s brilliantly fun and smart adult entertainment.
